Irritable Bowel Syndrome [ IBS ] is a hard to treat condition like bloating, diarrhea and stomach pain. Peppermint to the rescue. Use one tablespoon of dried or fresh peppermint and add it to a small saucepan. Pour in one cup of water. Simmer for a few minutes. Strain out the herb and drink while hot. You can also try a supplement like IB Gard, available at drugstores.

Fight allergy flare-ups with a daily cup of fresh ginger tea. The compounds in ginger are natural antihistamines that prevent congestion, sneezing and other symptoms. To brew the tea, simmer 2 tsp of grated ginger in 8 ounces of simmering water for a few minutes. Strain out the ginger and enjoy.

Yard work leave you sore? Add a 1/2 cup of fresh or dried rosemary to 6 cups of boiling water. Cover and remove from heat. Strain out the herb and add this infused water to your bath. A compound in rosemary lowers the production of pain triggering inflammation.

Low energy? Try tossing fresh lemon peel and rosemary into a crock pot. Add 7 cups of water. Turn the crock pot on low. Inhaling the aromatic oils activates a gene that produces energizing brain waves. The scent chases away fatigue for hours.

An herb poultice is made by combining finely chopped or powdered herbs to very warm water. Stir to blend and apply directly to a sore muscle. Cover with flannel or a cotton towel.

Good to know…You can use warm chamomile tea as a mouthwash. The tea is mildly antibacterial.
