Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is on Sunday May 13, 2012

Herb plants are at their peak during the month of May. Garden centers are bursting with basil, dill, rosemary and many other plants. Check local farmers markets for really good deals on herb plants and gifts.

You can always make your gifts and surprize Mom on her special day.

Garden tools are always welcome, watering cans, top grade potting soil, colorful planters. Buy four or five small herb plants and group them together in a pretty basket. Add a card, and this makes a thoughtful and welcome gift.

Herb seeds can be found at discount stores, garden centers, online. Choose 6 or more easy to grow culinary herbs, add some seed starter mix, small peats cups, and a little plastic garden tote to keep everything handy.

Gift cards are nice, as well as dried herb crafts. Local craft shows and farmers markets usually have handmade herb soaps and soy based herb candles. Check those places first and it will save wear and tear looking for the right gift.

Herb books are always a good choice, as are single lavender plants, rosemary, or even a rose bush. Yes, roses are herbs, as a matter of fact the rose is herb of the year for 2012.

Herb vinegars and oils are a treat, so are cheeses, butters and gourmet treats. Herb facials and spa treaments would certainly make any mother feel like a queen.

Herbal sachets and small aromatherapy pillows would make thoughtful gifts.

Engage in some garden conversation with mom, grand-mom, new mom, mother in law. Perhaps she’ll drop some hints about what she’d like for her day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all those who visit this blog. Everyone is most welcome.
