Pleasures of the Bath
Nothing is more soothing than a relaxing bath after a long day. I must admit I do my best thinking in an herb scented tub. Just make sure the water is not too hot. Here are some recipes and combinations to try.
Mystical Magical Bath Herbs
Basic Bath Salts. You can use this “as is” or add dried herbs or essential oils to the dry ingredients. 1 cup of Epsom Salts, 1 cup of Sea Salt and 1 cup of Baking Soda. Mix these together and store in a glass jar with a lid. You can scoop out as much as you need and add this to the tub as it fills with water. If you’re using dried herbs, you’ll need a muslin bag, a tulle bag, or even a colorful bandana or wash cloth. Just something to hold the ingredients inside. Add the Basic Bath Salts, and the herbs or oils to the cloth. Tie the cloth or bandana with ribbon or twine and hang it on the spigot or simply float it on the water. It will fill the tub with a wonderful scent.
This one I call Lavender Love: add one heaping tablespoon of dried lavender buds, or you can use fresh, a few bay leaves and a handful of dried baby roses. To the herbs, add about 1/4 cup of the bath salts, and float it in the tub. How relaxing !
This one I dubbed “Cinnamon Girl” for Neil. 1 cinnamon stick, a pinch of ground cinnamon, and 1/2 cup dried or fresh cinnamon basil. Add this to the Basic Bath Salts recipe. What an aroma. The room smells incredible.
This one I named Mystical Magical Melange: 1/4 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon, 1 star anise, 1 whole nutmeg, 1/4 cup of dried spearmint, a sprig or two of fresh lemon peel, and a bay leaf. Add these ingredients to the cloth or bag, along with 1/4 cup of the Basic Bath salts. Hang this over running water or float in the tub. You’ll think of Dune.
This one I named the Gentleman’s Mix: It’s manly and guys like a good soak as well. 2 twists of fresh orange peel, a cinnamon stick, 3 whole cloves, 1/8 teaspoon eucalyptus leaf, and a few sprigs of dried or fresh rosemary. Add these to the cloth or bag along with a 1/4 cup of the Bath Salts. Add to the bath water.
Here are other combinations you might like to try with the Bath Salts.
Stimulating: Rosemary, Lavender, Peppermint
Relaxing: Chamomile, Angelica, Sacred Basil
Refreshing: Mint, Lemon balm, Lemon thyme
Invigorating: Lavender, Rosemary, Patchouli
Beltane Blessings going out to my friends at Mystical Magical Herbs.
