Lemon Balm- Taken in the form of tea-relieves stress and anxiety in social situations. When you’re not stressed and anxious, you feel more confident. Use fresh or dried lemon balm leaves and drink up to 3 cups each day.
Valerian- This supplement also reduces those feelings of low self esteem many of us often have during social interactions. Valerian comes in capsule form and it may take up to 4 weeks to become effective. Valerian calms the nervous system, and when we are less nervous we perform better and appear more confident. Valerian can be purchased at health food stores. Be sure to follow directions on the package.
Siberian Ginseng – A wonderful herbal supplement for boosting energy and raising a higher vibratory sense of well being. When we feel better about ourselves we act with confidence. People notice when our walk is different, we stand taller, more erect, our gaze in direct. Body language for sure, but a confident body language. Siberian Ginseng is sold in capsule form at health food stores.
Peppermint Tea – A daily cup or two gives us a “boost” due to the menthol in the leaves. Menthol has a calmative action on the central nervous system. Be sure to use fresh or dried mint and not those tea bags that have very little mint in them. You can mix or match the following mints for a boost of optimism and self esteem. Try this combination: Orange mint and chocolate mint. Or, spearmint and peppermint. Add a little honey or milk to the cup of tea. Make it a daily or ritual. Drink the tea while soaking in the tub. Light a lavender candle, turn on some classical music, and relax. One suggestion you might like to try next spring. Grow your own mint. Mint is very easy to grow, and this in itself will increase self esteem and a positive outlook.
Red Clover Tea – Is wonderful for raising serotonin levels which directly effect concentration. It also increases confidence in social relations and in the work place. Red Clover Tea is often referred to as a “woman’s herb.” Health food stores carry the dried clover and also sell the Red Clover tea bags. Just be sure the clover has been grown organically.
Dark Chocolate – While not an herb, it will however in moderation boost confidence by increasing magnesium levels in the blood. Just don’t overdo it. A few small pieces of dark chocolate once or twice each week along with a cup of herbal tea will brighten your day.
Fresh air and daily walks in the sunshine do much to increase confidence. The herbs mentioned in this article and the suggestions are not meant to replace medical advice. If you’re depressed or sad, by all means seek professional care.
Blessed Be, sweet ones.
